I read the inspiring story of General McArthur’s personal cook and valet. He said “Nobody liked the general, but everybody respected him.” He also added “It was one of the things I admired most about him because he was a very strict and principled man, and even though everyone didn’t like or agree with him, we had no choice but to RESPECT him.” You see, once you have values as a person, and you adhere strictly to your values and principles, not everyone will like you, but everyone will respect you, and that’s more important because no matter who you are or what you do, everyone will never like you. Most people have swallowed and digested their prides, and even warmly embraced humiliation just because of poverty. But ironically and paradoxically, those who treat you disrespectfully and humiliatingly will never do anything significantly and astronomically to change your life for good because they want you to remain under them forever so that they’ll continue to humiliate you. But those who God will send to truly help you in life will NEVER disrespect and humiliate you. Just know that. It’s sad that when most people make a little money, then they automatically want you to start worshiping them. DON’T DO IT. Your own money will come. Just keep pursuing your dreams and never give up. Those who are really great will never humiliate others below them because they know that they too were once poor. They’re magnanimous and humble! And this is why I love what Mark Twain wrote and I quote “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that; but the really great people make you feel that you too, can become great.” It’s indisputably true that there’re people who derive sadistic delights from humiliating and tormenting others. They find joy in being mentally injurious to their subordinates just to prove that they’re the boss. Stay away from such people, or they’ll use you as a pawn. Learn never to tolerate humiliation and disrespect from anyone no matter what their financial or societal status is; and no matter what your own present predicament is. Know your value! Know your worth! And be confident because a man that has confidence has won the race of life even before he begins; but those who lack confidence are twice defeated and humiliated!!! Respect yourself, and teach others to respect you too!!! Yes you can’t force everyone to respect you, but you can refuse to be disrespected. Remember, once you tolerate disrespect from anyone once, then you’ll never get genuine respect from them ever again; and even if you later become successful, you would’ve lost your integrity forever. Those who accept humiliation are those who have given up in life, and they no longer believe that they’ll ever become successful and great. But those who know at the bottom of their hearts and the depth of their souls that they’re champions and great men will NEVER allow anyone humiliate them, no matter who the person is. So if someone ever tries to disrespect you because they have money now, remind them of what I taught you in one of my previous articles about Ecclesiastes 9:11 “The race is not to the swift; nor the battle to the strong; but time and chance happens to everyone.” Then look them in their eyes and tell them loud and clear that ‘YOUR OWN TIME WILL COME’ and then walk away like a boss!!!
