The Messiah is calling those that LABOUR and are heavy laden to Himself for a better life. Laden means loaded, weighed down, burdened and over-loaded. He is calling those that are weighed down, burdened and over-loaded with labours, issues of life and challenges to carry His YOKE and learn of Him for He is Meek and lowly in heart, and that His YOKE is easy while His BURDEN is light unlike the worldly burdens we are carrying that are weighing us down in every area of our lives like health, strength, breath, life, etc. They are weighing us down from reaching out to the heavenly goal and life of abundance. Today every believer is carrying a heavy load of unforgiveness, worries about life issues, worries about what people will think about them, cares of this world, what they shall eat/dress, how they shall gain popularity in ministry, how they shall gather to themselves great following of people and so on. Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Many people labour and are heavy laden yet got no REST from the Messiah. It is for this reason the Messiah is calling all that labour and are heavy laden to come to Him. The following are instructions for Him to give us REST: (a) Take His YOKE upon you A Yoke is a coupling or a beam of balance. Therefore we must be yoked to Him and balanced to His lifestyle, ways, desires, mission and personality. We must be yoked to Him to be in line with His steps, direction, faith, cares, ways and in everything such that when He takes a step we should take exactly same step and when He stops we should stop and so on. This is similar to the children of Israel when they were being led by a cloud and by a pillar of fire. When the cloud stopped they stopped and pitched their tents and when it moved they moved. (Gen_9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Exo_13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: (b) Learn of Him We must learn of Him and all His ways. Let’s go back to the Gospels and seriously learn about the way of life of the Messiah, what He did, what He did not, how He taught, How simple His life was, How caring He was, How forgiving He was, How a great blessing He was to the whole world, What His passion was, How He overcame challenges, How obedient He was to the Father, How humble He was, How hard He worked and served the Father, etc. 1Pe_2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: The reason why you should take His YOKE and learn of Him is because He is: (a) Meek The word “Meek” means humble, submissive, gentle, modest, compliant and mild. Are you submissive to relevant authorities and according to scriptures? Are you gentle? Are you modest? Are you compliant to scriptures and noble earthly regulations? Are you mild or excessive?
(b) Lowly in heart The word “Lowly” means humble, ordinary, simple, common, and modest. Are you ordinary? Are you simple? Are you modest? The Messiah lived a simple life! The Yoke of simple life is easy and the BURDEN of simple life is light. If you take His YOKE upon you and Learn of Him, you shall find REST unto your SOULS because: (a) His YOKE is EASY (b) His BURDEN is Light The REST that the Messiah promises is being refreshed or to be at ease even amidst all turmoils, challenges, persecution and all sorts of accusations and everything else from the Kingdom of darkness. The following is the advice from the Messiah and how you can take His YOKE and learn of Him: Mat 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Mat 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Mat 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: Mat 6:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Mat 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
