Many believe in God and Christ. That will not be enough when Christ returns. Even Satan and his demons believe. So if believing was enough, they would be saved as well. “19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe – and tremble.” James 2:19 (NKJV) They believe, but they tremble because they know that as the Son of God, Christ will send them to their eternal life of fire. So if believing is not enough, what does it take? Yes we must believe and proclaim Christ as the Son of God and our one true Savior. So what more does it take? All have sinned and fall short of the grace of God. Therefore, there must be the confession and repentance of sins. “47 and that repentance and remission of sins should bew preached in His name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.” Luke 24:47 (NKJV) Christ died in our place to serve as the sacrifice for our sins. Only through Him, can remission of our sins be accomplished. We must repent of those sins, for them to be forgiven. Repentance is not just saying, forgive me I did wrong. Repentance is also changing the attitude, changing the spirit of our hearts, where the sin is no longer in our thoughts or minds. “20 ‘teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” Matthew 28:20 (NKJV) Observing the words and commands of Christ is also required of God’s children. This is not just a sometime thing, it must be our way of life in everything we say and do. “7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:7 (NKJV) We must know that the only way to the Father is through Christ, willingly surrendering our will, to the perfect will of our Heavenly Father. We must have faith that Christ is the risen Savior, making our eternal life with Him possible. We must have the faith that God will supply all our needs, that He will always be with us, supporting and guiding us. “6 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ ” John 14:6 (NKJV) “9 As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15: 9 – 12 (NKJV) “25 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11: 25 – 26 (NKJV) Finally we must love as we are love as we are loved and forgive as we are forgiven. That is the commandment of Christ and we must fulfill the commands of Christ to have God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
I know this has been a long read, but there are just too many people that think belief in God, or Christ, is all they need. It is up to us to correct this misconception. We must share the full message of Christ and the love, grace and mercy of our Heavenly Father to the world. We must give them all the tools they need for their salvation through Christ our Lord. IT IS UP TO US TO TELL THE FULL STORY OF CHRIST!
