2 Timothy 2:22-24 “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife….. ” The word “Lusts” is a very forceful word in the Greek language of the New Testament. It speaks of any excessive desire on the part of man. Usually it is evil in nature. Lust is wanting something very badly. It is related to “greed” or selfish desire, and “covetousness” which is wanting what someone else has. Do you lust (strongly desire) for something in your life? Anything we strongly desire to have in this life is evil and do not come from God. Whatever we strongly desire to have leads us into sin. The lust to have sex, the lust to have money, the lust to have power, etc. is a sin and comes from the father of lust, Satan. Our youthful nature causes us to have strong desire for a lot of things in our lives. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth..,.Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:29,31). “That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts” (Ephesians 4:22). “But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting,…..for this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Ephesians 5:3-5) “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24). Be set free from every spirit of your lustful youth, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Say AMEN AND SHARE
