“’Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:16–17. We are in a spiritual battle. Seemingly insurmountable circumstances perplex us, frighten us, and unsettle us. Life seems like a planned obstacle course intended to test us and strengthen our faith. Elisha’s servant was afraid when they were surrounded by the Syrian army. Elisha reminded him not to be afraid since “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Elisha asked the Lord to open the eyes of the servant so he could see this was the case. The world we see is in tremendous conflict and turmoil. In many ways it is the outward manifestation of the unseen battles that are taking place in the spiritual world. The apostle Paul stated that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for tearing down everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. He also noted that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, authorities, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Like Elisha’s servant, we need to have our spiritual eyes opened. Then we can have some understanding of the machinations of the evil one, who stalks around like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.
Our defense is to remember that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. We are covered by the blood of Christ. His name is like a high tower. The righteous run into it, and they are saved! Ask yourself: Am I aware that I am in a spiritual battle to derail me from fulfilling God’s purpose for my life? How will I practice the Kingdom of God principles of soak, sow, and flow so I can win the battle? May God open your spiritual eye in Jesus Mighty Name….. Amen. “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” SHALOM……….!!!!!!!!!!!!
