Jesus was the King of preachers and if a devil would express these sentiments against Him, then obviously, devils feel the same way about all preachers. John 12:1-5 – Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. Then Mary took a pound of VERY COSTLY oil of spikenard, ANOINTED THE FEET OF JESUS, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and GIVEN TO THE POOR?” Jesus WAS NOT a preacher who was greedy for money [1st Timothy 3:3]. He DID NOT solicit or beg for an offering from Mary. He was just visiting with their family for supper. Mary, whose heart was most likely STIRRED by the Spirit of God [Ezra 1:1-2, 1st Samuel 10:26], decided WITHOUT ANY COERCION from Jesus, to honour and bless Him with a very costly gift. However, Judas did not think that Jesus DESERVED that gift. According to Judas, giving to the poor was MORE IMPORTANT than anointing the feet of Jesus. He had the audacity to tell Jesus that the poor were more deserving of that gift. He was implying that the very costly gift was TOO GOOD for Jesus BUT NOT too good for the poor [or charity]. Sadly, there are many MODERN DAY JUDASES who share the same sentiments, but gladly, there are also MANY MODERN DAY MARYS who are generous with their ministers and churches. Before this incident took place, there is a remark that Jesus had made, that helps us understand the REAL INSPIRATION, behind the words and reasoning of Judas. He was a devil according to Jesus! John 6:70-71 – Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is A DEVIL?” He spoke of Judas Iscariot… This passage reveals to us that devils are upset when people [even without being coerced or manipulated] are generous with ministers of the Gospel or churches. In the same way, that Judas [a devil] thought that the very costly perfume was too good for Jesus, devils think that there are some properties or amounts of money that are too good for ministers of the gospel or churches. They falsely think that some buildings, or houses, or cars, or clothes, or holidays…etc… are too good for preachers. MY MEDITATION & CONFESSION: I refuse to reason or speak like a devil. There are no properties or amounts of money on earth that are TOO GOOD FOR ANYONE. The blood of Jesus Christ is the MOST VALUABLE ASSET in the history of humanity and every human being deserves it and the redemption it brings. Therefore, nothing else on earth can be too good for them. Amen! 1st Peter 1:18-19 – knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold… but with the precious blood of Christ…
