If Bro Ajayi had known what his neighbour’s reaction would be, he would not have
sent the flier of his church’s programme to her. Before he left church on that
Sunday, his Pastor announced a crusade to be held within the week. Handbills and
fliers were shared to members. Bro Ajayi took some of the fliers home and gave to
his neighbour’s daughter. ‘Give this flier to your mother. Tell her to make it to the programme, that God will meet her at the point of her needs. Tell her that, God
wants to solve all her problems.’ The young girl took the flier to her mother truly but
the mother roared. ‘… so, that God that wants to solve all the problems in my life
cannot solve Ajayi’s problems? Let that God solve the problems in his life first. As
for me, I am better off. I know those I follow to church.’ She spoke in a loud voice.
Her room was not far from Bro Ajayi’s room. So, he heard her clearly. The woman’s outburst pained Bro Ajayi to the marrow. He felt embarrassed and
dejected. He sat down, ran through his life in thought. He recalled the year he
graduated from the university. He remembered his friends with whom he graduated
the same year, especially those who were not born again – and who used to mock
him as a born again Christian. He considered where they are now and where he,
the so called born again, is. He has no job. He struggles to pay his rent. His wife is yet to conceive in their 4 – year old marriage. He struggles to feed, to pay his rent
etc. He was troubled in his spirit, and he began to shed secret tears.
That Sunday evening, he could not go to the House Fellowship. He was weak.
Even within the week, he did not attend any of the weekly services. He was also
late to church the following Sunday. Devil was beginning to bring up a thought in
his mind that, his service to God was a waste of time. He began to ask himself, “Where are the results of my numerous services in the vineyard of God.” He was
bothered that, there was nothing to show for his counselling and visitation,
evangelism, intercessory prayers, church cleaning etc. Although, he was not
backsliding in faith but he was beginning to hold back from the things of God,
especially within the church.
Dear reader, situation like this abound. There are people who are devouted Christians, full of zeal for the things of God. People around them know them as
born again Christians but they are as poor as Library rat. Beloved reader, is your
case similar to that of Bro Ajayi? You can’t eat what you want. You can only eat
what you see yet you serve God faithfully. People who don’t serve God as you do or
who don’t go to church at all, are living better than you. You are now being called ‘a
fool for Christ.’ The reason you are wretched is your refusal to do what they are doing. They now mock you, saying your reward is in heaven yet you know that
suffering is not the grand design of your creator for your life. As a matter of fact,
your suffering negates His word. “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and
subdue it.” You are not relenting in prayer but can’t just understand why things are
not the way they should be for you.
Are you getting tired of your situation? Are you considering the tongues that are wagging? Are you saying it is useless to continue to hold on to God? Please note
this fact: You won’t be the first to experience delay in manifestation. It happened to
the people of old. The Israelites had the same experience but they emerged
victorious at the end, so there’s hope for you. Let’s read the book of Malachi
3:14-18 “You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God. What profit is it that we have
kept His ordinance. And that we have walked as mourners before the Lord of hosts? So now we call the proud blessed, for those who do wickedness are raised
up. They even tempt God and go free’ Then those who feared the Lord spoke to
one another, and the Lord listened and heard them. So, a book of remembrance
was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.
“They shall be mine” says the Lord of hosts. On the day that I make them My
jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him” Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who
serves God and one who does not serve Him.”
Are you getting pissed off by what people are saying? Are you tired of being born
again in the face of condemnation and apparent suffering. Have you abandoned
the faith and have gone to seek help elsewhere? Are you thinking of leaving your
duty post as a worker in the vineyard of God saying there’s no improvement in your living condition? Please note this: In God, there is hope for you. A portion of verse
16 of Malachi chapter three says ‘…so a book of remembrance was written before
Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.’ Dear reader, you
may be worried by your situation but the word of God can never fail. A book of
remembrance has been opened concerning you already. God is visiting you any
moment from now and your situation shall change for the better. You are the one thinking God has not heard you. Since you’ve been crying to Him,
He has heard you but don’t stop praying. The first statement in verse sixteen says
“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and
heard them.” If He has heard you since you’ve called, then there is a set time for
your miracle. You must “be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker
who does not need to be ashamed (or bothered by situation around him), rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2nd Tim. 2:15 (NKJV).
Getting tired of being born again or seeking help elsewhere or abandoning your
duty post will only increase your trouble. 2nd Peter 2:20-21 says “For if, after they
have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and
saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter
end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the
Holy commandment delivered to them.”
For this reason, I charge you, beloved, retrace your steps. Let not the mockery of
men or the thought of what you are going through, override your zeal for the things
of God. If you have sought for help outside Christ, or you have abandoned your
service to God because things are not going on smoothly, it is time to rededicate your life to Him because “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
Are you ready to do a re-dedication of your life now? Please say this prayer: “Lord
Jesus, I come to you today. I have wandered from the truth. I have allowed my not –
too-pleasant situation to weaken my zeal for my service to You. Please forgive me
Lord. Be my personal Lord and saviour. I rededicate my whole life to You today.
Help me to start anew. Heal my heart O Lord and give me the grace to go and sin no more, so that I may reign with You at Your second coming, Amen.
Please note that, giving your life to Jesus does not end with making this
confession. You must start attending a church from now on. While we will not
recommend a particular church, may the Holy Spirit lead you to choose a church
where the word of God is preached undiluted. May God bless you as you so. Dear
reader, we believe we may never meet you again in life but it is our wish to always send our tracts to you. Every week, we mail online tracts to our numerous readers
on different topics.
